SolarEdge Debuts S1400 and S500A Power Optimizers at Intersolar 2023

SolarEdge Technologies, the global leader in smart energy technology, is set to unveil the SolarEdge Power Optimizers S1400 and S500A, their two new power optimizers, at Intersolar 2023, which is taking place in Munich, Germany between June 14-16.

For the Commercial and Industrial (C&I) segment, the company is introducing the 2:1 S1400 Power Optimizer. Engineers specially designed the small, lightweight S1400 optimizer for high-input, bifacial, and high-power 700W modules, including G12 modules. The new architecture of the S1400 increases power density from a smaller unit and ensures optimum thermal performance. As a result, you can design the photovoltaic (PV) system with fewer but more powerful strings, typically reducing DC Balance of System (BoS) costs by 30%. Boasting a compact design, the S1400 provides greater design flexibility in challenging spaces and ease of installation.

In the residential segment, SolarEdge is introducing the S500A Power Optimizer for short strings. This new product allows for a cost-efficient design of smaller rooftop systems with higher power modules. As demand grows for higher power modules across European markets, systems with as few as six modules can leverage the S500A, using the SolarEdge Home Short String Three Phase Inverter and the SolarEdge Home Single Phase Wave/Hub Inverter. Alternatively, it can support systems with 10 modules using any SolarEdge residential Three Phase Inverter

Both the S1400 and S500A Power Optimizers include SolarEdge’s multi-layered suite of safety features. These include Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter (AFCI) capabilities supported in most SolarEdge inverters and SolarEdge Sense Connect, an industry-first technology that detects thermal abnormalities at the connector level and stops power flow before a potential electric arc can occur. Additionally, these products integrate SolarEdge’s branded SafeDC technology, which reduces PV systems’ DC voltage to touch-safe levels automatically during grid failures or when someone shuts down the inverter. The Rapid Shutdown feature enables installers to activate SafeDC at the flip of a switch, discharging the conductors to safe voltage levels within 30 seconds123.

SolarEdge is enhancing its offerings for both residential and C&I sectors with the introduction of the S1400 and S500A. At Intersolar 2023, the CEO and General Manager for Europe of SolarEdge will share their insights on the PV and storage market, current trends, and future industry developments. On Wednesday, June 14th, they will present details of all new technology innovations to the media for the first time in a landmark press conference.
